Do The Right Thing

Does anybody remember Radio Raheem from the movie Do the Right Thing?

Well, during the movie there was a DJ, Raheem, who was always waxing poetic about the ways of the world. I remember a line he said in the movie.

"Let me tell you the story of "Right Hand, Left Hand." It's a tale of good and evil. Hate: It was with this hand that Cane iced his brother. Love: These five fingers, they go straight to the soul of man. The right hand: the hand of love. The story of life is this: Static. One hand is always fighting the other hand; and the left hand is kicking much ass. I mean, it looks like the right hand, Love, is finished. But, hold on, stop the presses, the right hand is coming back. Yeah, he got the left hand on the ropes, now, that's right. Ooh, it's the devastating right and Hate is hurt, he's down. Left-Hand Hate K.O.ed by Love"

I believe after the special election in Massachusetts its time to do the right thing, and think with our right hand for a change.

Ezra Klien put it best.

He writes.

Democrats should pass health-care reform because it's the right thing to do. They should pass health-care reform because between18,000 and 45,000 people die each year because they don't have health-care insurance, and this bill will save many of those lives. They should pass health-care reform because it will prevent countless medical bankruptcies and an enormous amount of needless chronic pain and infirmity. They should pass it because it will take important steps towards cost control. They should pass health-care reform, as my friend Chris Hayes says, because it's important for the American people to see their government doing more than starting wars and bailing out banks. They should pass health-care reform because it's the right thing to do, both for the millions of people whom it will directly affect and for the country as a whole.

I could not agree more, it is time to pass the senate bill as is, and move forward.

Then it is time to turn the political table, go strong after the Banks and Wall Street, force the GOP to decide. It is obvious that the tea party crowd will not back the GOP if the message of bank reform is structured properly. Go after Counter-party funds as Taibbi suggests, go strong or don't come at all. Make the Health Care argument disappear amongst a storm of Wall Street whining, and tea party confusion. But get something done.
